It's hard to miss the fact that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month--there seem to be pink ribbons everywhere. If I were honest, in past years, I gave such emphasis only a casual thought. At the most, I MAY have done a self-exam. At the least, I was simply grateful the disease didn't affect me. Then came July 2.
Many of you know I was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer. Thankfully, a self-exam caught it at Stage 2, and it is in no other organs but an additional lymph node. I've had two chemo treatments and will continue until the end of January. Last week was time to say goodbye to my long hair when it had thinned so much.
Why share so much, you ask? The American Cancer Society gave me my first wig thanks to their partnership with Pantene's Beautiful Lengths. I was touched and grateful for such a practical, personal gift.
